The Structural Analysis for Packaging Course is presently under development and will involve instructors from several National Laboratories including LLNL, Savannah River National Laboratory, Argonne National Laboratory, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Packages are certified based on testing, testing augmented by analysis, and by analogy to tested packages augmented by analysis. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) can involve elastic analyses and elastic-plastic analyses. The Course will examine the applicability of these approaches with respect to accepted methodologies and NRC/DOE regulations.
